Biking and Hiking

Well directed paths lead you through meadows and quiet forests. Small nice villages alternate with beautiful castles and richly ornamented churches - expressions of culture and tradition.

Countless paths for biking and hiking invite you to explore the area. The path „König Ludwig" is the most popular and one of the loveliest hiking paths in Bavaria with a total length of 110 km / 69 miles.

The romantic valley „Mühlthal" lies between Gauting and Starnberg. It was formed during the glacial epoch and invites you to take idyllic walks. From this period of, also the Lake Starnberg stems, which was formerly called Lake Würmsee.

Near Gauting stands the historical mill „Reismühle", which is said to be the birth place of Karl the Great.

Gauting is situated on very old and historical grounds, which is shown by roman artifacts, that are displayed in the Town Hall.

Barrows and ancient burial grounds with numerous grave finds are witnesses of ancient times.

Beer Gardens with bavarian ambiance invite you to take a break. Local dishes complete the friendly atmosphere.

Duration of drive to the „Zugspitze" is 1 hour.

Motor bikes are welcome.
